Jeff & Lynne Slade

Owners/Operators of Just Passing Horse
Transport & Bereavement

Jeff and Lynne both come from a diverse professional background. Jeff was immersed in a career in agriculture lending before being presented with the opportunity to purchase Mountain Meadows Pet & Equine Cremation. Through his experience with the crematorium, he connected with Greg & Carole, the previous owners of Just Passing. One thing led to another, and the opportunity to purchase Just Passing came forward.

Lynne has extensive experience in business - having gone to Business school with a focus in Human Resources. This led her to a role where she gained experience in foreign recruitment for agriculture clients, marketing, and event planning. Both Jeff and Lynne were born and raised in small communities, Jeff being from Nanton, and Lynne being from Indus. They have both been surrounded by horses and animals their entire lives and know the importance of dignified after-life care. In their free time they enjoy taking their son camping and travelling across Alberta to watch Jeff compete in horse cutting shows.

Chuck McKinney

Authorized Representative
in Northern Alberta

Chuck McKinney joined Just Passing in 2018. He undertook training with Greg on euthanasia and end-of-life procedures and regulations. He is now our Authorized Representative in Northern Alberta, providing bereavement and transport services as required in Edmonton and the surrounding area.

Like Greg, Chuck brings a lifetime of equine experience to Just Passing. Together with wife Terri and daughter Taylor, the McKinney family share their love of horses with people from all over the world, operating Wild Deuce Retreats and Outfitting since 2003.

Every summer, they take groups on the adventure of a lifetime, by horseback and wagon into the wilds southwest of Rocky Mountain House. This requires a remuda of over 35 well-broke mountain ponies. Terri and Chuck often provide guests with special horsemanship training and clinics.

In addition, the McKinneys operate a ranch near Kingman, Alberta; breeding and selling top quality horses and cattle. Dedicated to the equine industry, Chuck knows how important it is to support both the horse and the rider, especially through tough situations. Chuck is committed to providing our much-needed services to the Just passing community of Northern Alberta.

Greg Alexander

Founder of Just Passing Horse
Transport & Bereavement

Greg Alexander demonstrated his natural affinity for horses, cattle and other animals from an early age, growing up on a mixed farm on the northeast edge of Calgary. He put that experience to work, running his own grain and livestock operation for 30 years. Off the farm, he also drove as a commercial line-haul truck driver on the Calgary-Vancouver run through the Rockies.

Greg’s goal with Just Passing was to provide necessary services for other animal lovers in their time of need. He is devoted to treating people and animals with dignity, compassion and respect.
